My life’s journey……

A short summary of my Life’s Early childhood Journey

I started to dance when I was probably five years old. My first master was my mother. She was a great veena player and also could sing carnatic music very well. She would sing some simple songs and I will do some movements.

I began giving dance performances around the age of nine after learning from Sukumaran Pillai for a year or so in Poona.

My formal training in Bharatnatyam was under Vazhuvur Ramaih Pillai in Chennai. After eighteen months of vigorous training under him, I performed my Arrangetram in Chennai. It was a three hour long program! The last item of the program was “Vasanthavalli from Kuravanji”. A novel item in those days!
